It made me so happy to watch The Big Waste Food Network special. Chefs Flay and Simon competed against Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli to see who could go around to shops and farms and bring back as much food that was going to be thrown away. There are ridiculous rules for why food gets thrown away such as a chicken having a broken wing or corn being pushed down to the ground by a hurricane. Really??? It’s ironic that anyone would worry about something as small as this when there are tons of preservatives and chemicals going into our food that are actually harmful. Americans are already eating much more than their fill but to waste so much good food on top of that is just atrocious. It inspired me so much to see Bobby Flay and Michael Simon giving a butcher shop advice to have a seminar once a month with chefs on how to use the pieces of meat that would normally get thrown away. A really crafty cook could use all of the food and still end up with a delicious meal just like they did on the show -a nice fish plate, short rib and peach dessert. I hope that Food Network will expand this special into something bigger. It could really make a difference :)
