While I enjoy the effects on this AT&T commercial and find it fascinating to watch, I can’t help but be appalled by the egotism of the company for creating a commercial like this. It’s absolutely imperialist the way the orange sheets swallow the diversity of the cities shown and even attempt to cover up the ocean! Why would we want to contribute to a company that thinks of itself as a monopoly? As consumers, we want competition. That’s why I think it’s a bit foolish of AT&T to let us know that because they have so much power in the industry, they have the ability to manipulate prices. The loss of perspective is staring us in the face and we just accept it.
After my death I wander the universe
Like a tourist of galaxies
I sit in the curve
Of one of the moon’s many craters,
My mind floats through Jupiter’s nonexistent surface,

Millions of lightyears into the universe.
The precise amount of chemicals
Mixed at the earth’s surface
To build a being, an organism
Running on oxygen, water, carbon
A product of this earth,
Fed and recycled by her nurturing touch.
Oblivious eyes staring blankly,
Never behind or forward,
Taking for granted, taking all they can get.
Death sneaking up on us,
Our God-driven fear come too late,
You may laugh now, you may feel invincible
But the lines on your eyes come in from the sides
The gray appears at the root of your worry,
The heart weakens, slowing its pace
To keep up with these ever changing times
That wait for no one.
We are but a speck on some eternal timeline
Be wise not to forget it; you only get one chance
Before the darkness settles in and you’re
Left in the withered hands of Fate
Who has sent so many to their doom
The elite to their paradise
But how much I’d like to unite
With the particles of the cosmos
Settle into the womb that bore me
The one true spirit, beating, pumping
Existence, life, light; this universe,
A chest that rises and falls with the breath of hope.
